THIS DRESS OF ANTIQUITY

Angry-baby-at-the-Givenchy-show

You defined me as not beautiful

The first day I cried and saw the light

That first day she saw this innocent face

She puts on me this dress I wore

I wonder when I will grow bigger, than this dress

Occasionally, I cut myself lose from this dress of antiquity

Only to be reminded by society; “the new you don’t fit”

Imagine how I have wanted to be like you, in your dress

From the corner of your eye; a despicable worm on the sidewalk

Your lips drip with the poison that killed my innocence

Like an old dog to its vomit, I sew myself back into this dress

Itchy, tight texture to my wounded skin, I wear it day and night

Allergic to life, infected with death, that delays and delays with hurt

Who will throw stones on this mirror they’ve invented in my head

Please, break me free from this repulsive world; end this ugly war

Standing at the edge of the bridge, reciting my pain; at the night watch

If she has a friend she could have sent a text message to tell why

Cold virgin feet, slipping fast to the grave;

Yet she has a little time to say a little prayer

A friend she never knew solicitously tapped her cold shoulder

The warmth of your touch; a bundle blanket on my cold soul

You breathes on me with contentment: You’ve woken me up to live

You’ve made my life so beautiful; there is nothing greater than this

Just as you are: You have clothed me with the beauty of thyself

On the sidewalk; she walks majestically with smiles on her face

Defying the odds of a vicious society, with a new self, a new song;

Yes Jesus loves me

Yes Jesus loves

Yes Jesus loves me

For the Bible tells me so

A WALK WITH JESUS BOOK: Capturing The Grace Culture of Christ

www.graceology.org
Effortless Life Series

Almost a decade ago, I was sitting in my New York Apartment…I had this thought flooding through my heart. “There is a book in you” was the echoes of my thoughts. I went out and bought a huge note-book and started pouring my thoughts with my pen like a first grader. My limitations were so gigantic… I will write one sentence and close the note-book until another week or few months.

You know my shortcoming? I had no idea how to write a book and beside that limitation, I also couldn’t use the computer so effectively to my advantage (Typesetting was prehistoric in my world). There was this other voice which kept telling me; “your grammatical construction is so bad, nobody will spend their time to read your work”.  To cut a long story short, I quit on this vision because I didn’t want to embarrass myself.

Years later, I made a promise to the Lord; should He let me with the necessary tools to write a book…all sales will go into charity work in Africa. I am so thankful to the Lord; my love gift (First Fruit) to the Lord is out on Amazon as eBook. Lives are being transformed every day, from the profound wisdom of the Spirit of Christ.

The report of how this book is changing lives is amazing. Hit the link at the bottom and download your copy today. Remember, your purchase of this book is also your love gift to help destitute families and orphans in Africa. I thank you in advance for being part and parcel of Kingdom agenda, spreading the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A HOLE IN THE GOSPEL| CHAPTER 2

Capture the central perspective of this post by reading Chapter one from here. In Chapter one, I share the vision the Lord revealed to me in 2011, in regards to His Church. He said there is an Emptiness in my Church!!

SENSATIONALISM AND EMOTIONALISM – Apostle Paul warns the Church at Colossae to be watchful of leaders who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything. This is the abundant life; the well where the thirsty and dissatisfied souls find rest and Photo Credit: Google imagecomfort.

THE WILDERNESS CHURCH -We see a similar picture in the wilderness Church…The congregation murmured against Moses and were willing to stone him, for lack of water for themselves and their animals. The Lord gave an instruction to Moses, to speak to the rock (Christ) before the eyes of congregation and water shall flow in abundance from the flinty rock.

Numbers 20:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank. 12 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

Moses, out of anger and disobedience stroked the rock twice with his rod and water gushed out. What was missing in this wilderness miracle was the neglect to exalt the Lord before the eyes His people that they can place their trust in Him as their sole satisfier and provider. Moses was not supposed to take the spot light…it was Christ, who was the type of the rock. Moses and the congregation miss the opportunity to reach the promise land. It is not always about the miracle; it’s always about God who is the miracle maker. Who is your focus? Yourself, your leader, your denomination or it is all about Christ?

WHAT TIME IS IT? It is time we drop our pick axe gospel of self works, legalism, commercialization, sexism, materialism, condemnation which has become the order of the day and share light on God’s grace gospel which is simple and yet has the power to build the total man from the inside out and grant us an inheritance with eternal value. Apostle Paul through the Holy Spirit spoke to the leaders of the Ephesus Church in his farewell address, to be committed to God and the timeless truth and principles of the word of His grace which has great benefits to keep them from false brethren and demonic concepts. The sound of the great Apostle still echoes through the corridors Photo Credit: synecticsworld.comof time to the 21st century church…

Acts 20:32New (NKJV) “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

A mind corrupted by wrong theology or belief system about God and who we are in Him leads to all kinds of behaviors and malfunctioning in life.  If the body of Christ is denied of her ability to behold the beauty and pleasant nature of Christ through the preaching of the Gospel which Paul says “Is able to build you up and not only that but to also give us an inheritance”  … then we deepen the vacuum of emptiness which plagues most Christians, and not experiencing this amazing grace independent of our self occupation and willpower to get access to the boundless riches in Christ. This is not a matter denominational or doctrinal over protection; it’s a matter of giving people the chance to see Jesus and throwing out all man centered religion and traditions out of the window.  Are you ready to be a part and parcel of this movement?

BUILDING NEW ALTARS I share the same passion with Malcom Smith 110% on what really matters now; preaching the gospel which is the power unto salvation and not works. He clearly sounds the trumpet from the roof top that we will all hear…“Preaching the gospel, we are announcing the news of the revelation of who Adinkra Symbol, Ghana: God's Presence and ProtectionGod is and how He feels about us. We stand on the street corners of the world shouting the news that God is not the way we thought He was – He loves us!!… This is the greatest news in the world… The love of God…is the magnetic north of truth by which we fix our position as we stumble lost in the wilderness of the world…To know that His love for us depends on Him and not on us is the beginning of the way out of the futile, meaningless lives and religious despair”

The pulpit has to be oiled again with the passion to see people transformed and not modified into robots without the ever abiding life of Christ flowing in us. Jesus said He came purposely to give us His own life in full measure. If this is heaven agenda, then the burden is not on us anymore but we must embrace this life by faith to impact us in all that we do on this side of eternity…

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly “- John 10:10 (NKJV)

The pulpit needs repentance from dead works, and come back to a true relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Beating people with do’s and don’ts, when they’ve really not been empowered to know their true identity rather suppress them than doing them good. You don’t beat a servant and torture him to think and work like a king when his mind is beat down and contained in a prison of unworthiness, shame and insignificance. We tell people to become like Christ with child-laboursticks and hammers on their head, when they have no idea of who they are in Christ Jesus. Throwing fire and brimstone on people through condemnation and self occupation messages or sermons always compel sincere people to try hard on their own; because of their inability through self, they fake their identity, and yet we celebrate their outward modifications whiles they struggle under the cloak of hypocrisy on the inside. Teach me who I am and effortlessly, I will discover who I am and live naturally as God intended through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Transformation is an inside out work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer!!

You want transformation and fulfillment in Christ? Find a Christ centered church and resources that will draw you in to the riches of Christ in your daily life as a believer. May Christ be exalted before your eyes today in love and victory over complex issues of this world!!

A HOLE IN THE GOSPEL| CHAPTER 1

In December of 2011, while we were in a 21 day prayer and fasting for the Church of Jesus Christ, I saw a vision of the Lord in my spirit, whiles I was sitting in my car praying with other Photo Credit: Google imagesbelievers in a phone conferencing…you can call it prayer hotline.

In this vision; “I saw myself and a host of Pastors or the clergy men in their official clerical regalia, each holding a PICK AXE; with passion digging a deep HOLE in the earth surface. This was one big hole…the effort and the passion we were actually putting into this business of digging deeper, is indescribable” I had a teary eye; a whirlwind of sorrow and hopelessness overwhelmed my whole being, as I watch everyone dig like a gold digger in search for precious gems. Instantly, an interpretation was given to me by the Holy Spirit. He said;

“THERE IS AN EMPTINESS IN MY CHURCH” He continued; “my servants have a dug a big hole of emptiness in the hearts and soul of the Church, and they keep digging deeper and deeper and deeper with passion. In time of test and trials due to the emptiness in their hearts (my Church) they struggle to prevail”. “Their prayers have all become an activity before me, they feel condemned and unrighteous; neither do they have an intimate relationship with me Their emptiness is perpetual. I am the only one that satisfies the thirsty, yet my servants are not projecting me unto My Church”

Colossians 2:8-10 (The Message) Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk.

Many in the body of Christ are standing on quick sands and slipping slowly into despair, because Christ Who is the only unmovable rock that will stand the test of time, is not the centre of their religion. Christ becomes the center of your religion not because you sing about Him or tell storie s of His good life. Christ is the center of our life when the life we live in the flesh is His life and all we do is to His glory. Self sits on the throne of ones heart when you, trying to rule, reign and direct your affairs in your own terms. It doesn’t matter how sacred that might look on the outside…that is not Christianity. Just as Moses lifted up the bronze serpent in the wilderness and those bitten by poisonous snakes (life complications) lived again, so must we exalt Christ Jesus like a neon billboard that, all that travels on the untested terrain of this dark tunnel of life, can draw life and light, to accelerate purposefully to their destinations.

CHRISTIANITY IS VERY SIMPLE – It takes complicated people to complicate the life-giving reality of Christ into human traditions and ancient philosophies, which is difficult to assimilate and process by the believer. Christianity is Photo Credit: Google imageChrist. Christianity is not techniques, nor 101 Rules, 7 Special Steps, 21 Keys of human wisdom to reach God! When you try to get access to the will and promises of God through human effort and concepts which sounds good to the ear, it always leads to frustration at the end. Your will power can only sustain you to a certain degree of life, but it has no promise to sustain you at all times. – Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. – It is God, my dear friends who works in us to functions in His will and purpose. It’s only through the Spirit of grace that one can prevail over impossible circumstances and bear abiding fruits. For instance, one cannot and will not be able to live a life of true joy and peace without Christ. These two virtues are the very character of God, which emanates in us, as we abide in Him as covenant children, through faith in His finished work. You want to experience through peace? Don’t try hard to walk in peace…embrace the truth of God’s peace which has already been lavished on you freely as you set your heart on Christ. Meditating on His good opinion towards you in the midst of the complex issues of life, will calm your nerves with unusual peace which only God can give to us ( See Isaiah 26:3)

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing – John 15:4-5

A SHOCKING STATEMENT BY A LEADER IN NEW YORK – Eastern religion and certain forms of human concepts and ideologies which have no root in Christ Jesus have gain inroads into the body of Christ. These beggarly, weak concepts which have been sold to the masses in the form of motivational mantras, to the neglect of the transforming power of the gospel. Many are in the Church today who have never heard the so good to be true gospel. The gospel is simply the good news of the Photo Credit: Google imagefinished work of Christ and what it has wrought for humanity, independent of our human effort. The clause of this gospel is faith in Christ…appropriating what He has already done. It is sad to say that, many believers sincerely love the Lord but the reality is that they have never heard the truth which takes the burden off your shoulders; all they have known in their entire Christian journey is the junk of emotionalism and self effort legalistic concepts, which has one into total emptiness, on the inside. I had the Chance to minister in a Church in New York City…I saw people literally set free from the bondage of guilt, shame, condemnation, sin consciousness. You could see their faces glistening with life; with tangible miracles of healings and breakthrough for God’s people.

What did I do? I shared the simplicity of the gospel, and the Holy Spirit went to work. After the conference, the Pastor was so touched by hearing the gospel in its unique way, but the sad part of this scenario is his open confession to me. He said; I know this is the truth, but if you keep emphasizing on it, people will leave the church! I was totally shocked! Many Church leaders believe that we were saved by grace through faith and not of our works that we should not boast (Eph 2:7-8) and yet they find it hard to live in the balance of grace and faith. What did you do to get save? Grace through faith! How will the Lord build His Church? Not by your methods and techniques; it is by grace through faith. Faith in what?  In the finished work of Jesus Christ. You don’t start the Christian life by grace and then God leaves you on your own, to live the Christian life in your own strength and effort. That is uncharacteristic of a loving God. Paul writes to the Colossians… So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, Colossians 2:6(NIV) This is so simple yet it’s hard for many souls to comprehend.

This was Paul’s greatest fear when He wrote to the Church at Corinth… But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV)

Do you know that the pulpit which is suppose to build you up can also end up corrupting your mind from operating from the simplest and yet powerful platform of the truth of the gospel which sets free. One great man has said; “wrong belief system always leads to wrong behavior” Christianity is not difficult, its totally Impossible without the life of Christ, which the gospel so much emphasize.

Please to capture the whole perspective of this post…read Chapter 2 here. Is the Church focus is to build and transform lives or to entertain with sensationalism and emotionalism? Chapter 2 answers this question!! Thanks for reading, and you have a graceful journey with Christ in your Christian pilgrim. Shalom

MY JOURNEY OF GRACE: WHY I LOVE EMPHASIZING ON THE LOVELINESS OF JESUS

Almost overnight, everything changed… Everything I had been taught about God, the church, the world around me, and my identity. Everything I have practiced Rev. McDanielswith zeal and zest, from my late teens into adulthood received a new shift. I share this experience with you, with honor and praise to the Holy Spirit…who always works to bring us closer to the loving embrace of the Father, no matter where one is in the chapter of His life.

THE VISION OF JESUS AND THE MISSION OF MY LIFE At about 1:25pm on Monday, November 29th, 2011 ( 3 years, today! )… I was in my living room praying, in an active – walking mode, holding my bible and from the lips faith, interceding for the Church of Jesus Christ, at Lansdowne Northern Virginia. I had an open vision… three young women, unknown to me in the vision were sent to deliver a message, which has radically transformed my life, and that of many others. One of the women begun to talk to me, whiles they all have this urgency written on their faces, looking at imagesddddddme. She said; “we have heard that you are preaching Christ, in your Church”. I solemnly responded with a big YES.

Prior to having this vision, I was experiencing this feeling of boredom in my heart, towards the system of religion I have embraced over the years. There was this burning desire in my heart, to capture and discover a personal God and who I am in Him, through the sacred writing of scripture.   (Everything I have known about God… from Sunday school through Bible School, was very impersonal to me) I dedicated myself to the reading of the gospels back and forth, at a sitting; spending many hours in the presence of God. The first scale dropped off, and a flood tide of the loveliness of a personal God, swept over my soul in a tsunami-like force… love was no more a religious cliché or a buzz word.  A tangible manifestation of the agape presence was all over me, and spread through me affecting everything…My marriage, ministry, purpose, health, the future, relationships and what have you. I was so overwhelmed and in shock; nobody taught me about this personal God. Hardly did I hear all the great and favorite speakers I see on TV, and have read their books, did talks about Him.

Armed with this revelation, I started a new sermon series dubbed The Jesus I never knew” and to my amazement, I saw lives transformed effortlessly, through the loveliness of God. By unveiling Jesus and His finished work…guilt, condemnation, shame, and insignificance were out of the window, and a new sense of self, created and established on Christ, was discovered. To continue from where we left of on my vision: The woman continued…”God is going to take you around the world, (For ministry) but the only thing which will transform people, is GraceThe moment she made mention of grace, I saw the Lord Jesus Christ. Suddenly, everything came into normalcy; still praying and walking through my living room…”a new day and a brand new passion were born, out of my Spirit”.

MY IGNORANCE ALMOST CAUSE ME TO DISPAIR…The vision contradicted with my belief system. If grace has to be the main platform for transformation…what was the essence of Jesus in the vision? I believed then; if it’s Jesus, it has to be Jesus alone. If it has to be grace, then grace alone, and not grace plus Jesus. I knew then if condemnationtransformation can take place in a man’s life, it has to be Jesus. Why grace and Jesus? I was left in despair and anguish; all the excitement I had already had about a personal and loving God, was now conflicting with this vision.

Don’t be surprised I was a Pastor for thirteen years, and didn’t know anything about grace, except the amazing grace song. Grace was a doctrine, a concept, a passport to sin, and all the cheap labels about it, was what I was aware of.  The entrance of His word, and the escort of the Spirit into the heart of the Father, brings liberty. The Lord reveals to redeem. He ended my despair by tenderly speaking to my heart of who He is; “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, [b] who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. (John 1:16-18)

JESUS, GRACE PERSONIFIED – He is the embodiment and totality of grace… grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Jesus never said the word “grace” or “I love you”. The reason being that, He is a being who is full of grace, and lived influencing all that He came into contact with Him, and still influence the world by exerting His holy influence in our hearts to persuade us to freely receive the kindness of God. To separate grace from Jesus is un-liberating…a doctrine which cannot set the captives free. A complete U-turn from a covenant established on the basis works, do’s and don’ts, to a life of rest in Christ, was revealed and painted into my spirit. These and many other things were unveiled to me…insights, and wisdom I have never in my entire life as a Christian, heard or known were tangible before me, as something I could hold, feel and embrace, all they long. I felt I have been born again, again!

NEW DEPTHS… December 2011 through March 2012, the Lord begun to pour His love into my heart in an unspeakable measure; nothing in this life was precious to me. There is nothing in this life, I could compare to the magnificence of His presence, and the joy it brings. If the President of the United States of America or the Queen of England would have called me on my phone, and by chance I recognized their number 1Jesuson my cell ID, it wouldn’t have made any difference.

EFFORTLESS CHANGE…I heard the Lord spoke to me with such clarity and intimately. I begun to speak like a winner –walked over failure mentality, condemnation, uncertainty for the future, a bitter heart and a host of self effort baggage, I had carried over the years. I delivered from self, to love God and people unconditionally. His presence was my delight… days lying on the floor, only to get up to get my kids ready for school and pick them up from the bus and continued pursuing His presence, savoring His grace. It was in those moments in His presence the Lord revealed to me His heart towards humanity. Gravity of Grace Blog is a chunk within God’s global revolution of His nature to grace humanity, to escape the decay of the fallen world. This is an awakening of the Church to the righteousness of God, which is by faith through Christ Jesus, and the transcendent majesty of the person of Christ, and who we are in Him.

Friend, are you weary and tired over religion, do you want to know the nature of God; how He feels and think about you, and the depths of His amazing power and ability in your born again spirit? Grace is Free and it tastes Good

Jesus had just fed a multitude. Now the crowd was after him. He had just filled their stomachs, but his mission goes deeper than that. Today will talk about true nourishment and the “work” we must do to find it. Jesus says:

Jn 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

And here it is again in the Message translation:

John 6:27“Don’t waste your  energy striving for perishable food like that. Work for the food that  sticks with you, food that nourishes your lasting life, food the Son of  Man provides. He and what he does are guaranteed by God the Father to  last.”

Immediately I am reminded of two more passages of scripture. The first one is in Isaiah:

Isaiah 55: 1 “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! 2 Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. 3 “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.

And here’s another one in one of my favorite Psalms:

Psalm 127: 2 It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.

Amazing.

So what is this so-called Good Food?

The Good Food is Jesus. That’s it. It’s him. He came down and provided himself for us. It is either too simple or too complicated at times for me to understand that he called himself “bread to eat”. But that’s exactly what he is. When he said to the enemy “Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” he was quoting ancient scripture… but that scripture still refers to him.

The easiest part of it that I can understand is that I am fed when I hear the words of Christ. Hebrews tells me that faith comes from hearing the words of Christ. So one aspect of eating and eating well is getting enough faith to make it through the day- and getting it from the Word. This life is a “life of faith”. So just like we need food to get our bodies through the day, we need to “eat faith” to get through the day.

Which words give me faith?

Words that tell me what Christ has done. That he gave himself as a ransom for me. That we exchanged places. That all the crap in my life right now – he took 2000 years ago. And all the wonders of grace and blessing, are poured into my lap today.

My faith gets bigger when I read about Christ’s life. How he healed every sick person who came to him. How he embraced every sort  of sinner with unconditional grace. How he stills the storm, walks on water, multiplies the loaves and fish, calls forth the giant catch of fish, sends a fish with a coin in its mouth, miraculously secures a furnished room for him and his disciples to have an evening together. Things like that.

My faith gets bigger when I read the letters of Paul which contain the words of Christ. Words that tell me when I am weakest, his strength is made perfect. That I can rejoice in my weakness because Christ dwells in me! Greater is he that is in me than the giants I face in this world. Words that tell me that grace superabounds when sin abounds. When my situation falls short of the glory of God, his grace is there – exploding like never before. Words that tell me that God’s kingdom is about righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost – and it is here with me, and I have it – for free.

This Food is Free

This is the food that nourishes us. This is the food that “sticks with us”. I am writing to myself in a way- because the last 3 weeks have been so full of work and to a certain extent I feel that it has all been in vain. Have you ever felt that way? Jesus asks us: “Why are you wearing yourself out like that? The treasures in this world do not last. The food here spoils. My food does not. And it is FREE. I do not require you to work that way for my food!”.

The Psalmist says that our labor is “in vain” when we labor this way.

Isaiah says: “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free!”

I believe it is Jesus that fulfilled that. He gave himself up for us – for free. He was asked:

28 They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?” 29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Our only “work” is to believe. And that is ironic because believing is not work. This tells us that we can accomplish so much more by simply believing – than by toiling and laboring with sweat and tears. Why? Because when we believe in Jesus – we receive all that he paid to give us. That’s how we “eat” him. By taking his words, taking his promises, taking his Gospel of Grace, and living on it every day. Believing it, hanging on it, betting our entire lives on it – that it is true and that it will change everything we know, not just later on but now.

For example, healing. God wants us healed, but we don’t chase after it. We chase Jesus. When we get Jesus and “eat” Jesus, we are healed. Money is the same. When we have Christ, we have everything. Because on the cross, he who is everything gave up everything for us. Now we inherit everything that is Christ’s, but more importantly, we inherit Christ himself.

Jesus is not Perishable

The nourishment we receive from him lasts forever. The food we eat here perishes. It gives us strength only for a moment. The entertainment we find here amuses us only for a while. The distractions we chase after only give us momentary pleasure. Our treasures here are subject to the moths and corrosion of this side of reality. Yes – for as long as we have bodies we will have needs, and our God is not cheap. He intends to fill those needs abundantly. But he wants our hearts to seek for that which is not perishable.

Jesus is not perishable. The life we receive from him lasts forever. His promises last forever. When we trust in him, we will not be disappointed- ever. Circumstances here are all changeable, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. His cross is forever. His blood speaks a better word about us – forever. His Gospel is forever. When we believe in him, we do the only work he requires from us. And that “work” brings us rest.

He gives rest to those he loves. He loves you. He wants you to rest. His rest is forever. Rest in his promises. Rest securely in his finished work. If the work is completed, you don’t need to do it. You only need to receive and rest.

You have concerns, yes. But Jesus calls you to rest. If you have a hard time doing that, chew on his words. Chew on his promises. Then you’ll see what I mean. When we hear his words of comfort, when we understand who he is and what he has done for us, rest comes. When we believe, rest comes. He loves you. He died for you. He grants you rest today.

When I have had a lot to eat, I always get sleepy. I imagine that’s how it is in the Spirit as well. When you’ve received his words which bring spirit and life into you – real faith food – you know you can rest. You can stand on his word. You can sit on his promises. You can sleep under the shadow of his wings.
